Illinois Business Developments



Illinois as the biggest markets in the Midwest and the home of more than two thousand corporate headquarters, a bustling entrepreneurial scene, and more than 1.2 million small businesses, provides the infrastructure that businesses need to be successful in the current business climate. From world-class infrastructure which connects businesses with their suppliers and customers to skilled and knowledgeable workforces in various industries as well as a modern manufacturing base, Illinois is a leader in many areas like advanced and clean energy, agribusiness, IT life sciences, transportation logistics.



Illinois has experienced a tremendous increase in foreign investment growth over recent years. Countries such as Britain, Japan, Germany and China were among the countries that most invested in Illinois; by 2023 this amount reached over USD $13.2 billion across the agribusiness, manufacturing and manufacturing industries in Illinois all by itself.



In 2014, over $1 billion in incentives have been awarded under Illinois Reimagining Energy and Vehicles program to businesses that offer electric vehicles and green energy production. The program was announced last month. DCEO also granted PsiQuantum Manufacturing with an incentive package totaling over $200 million for their new advanced manufacturing facility located in East Alton.



Governor JB Pritzker accompanied by representatives of Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network and local officials today in Chicago for the launch of CZ Biohub Chicago - a cutting-edge research hub that is at the forefront of cutting-edge scientific studies. This initiative will bring together University of Chicago, Urbana-Champaign State University (UIUC) and Northwestern University researchers to study the human development of tissues as well to develop innovative therapeutics.



Governor JB Pritzker and Flender Corporation recently announced they are expanding their current manufacturing facility in Elgin that will result in 50 full-time jobs while keeping the existing 140 full-time employees.



The Illinois Small Business Development Center located at Southern Illinois University is funded by a co-operative agreement between U.S. Small Business Administration, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Southern Illinois University. State leaders in Indiana are insisting on employers offering higher compensation and benefits as way to keep child care employees in the United States and facing a lack of jobs.
